She unfortunately didn't sleep the whole way there but instead was watching all the cars go by. Still a lover of cars that girl. We checked in and immediately Sadie wanted to play with all the toys they had there. I believe she found a ride on car to jump into first thing. We played for a bit then got called back into the prep room. There were three kids ahead of Sadie to get tubes. There were about 8 in total by the time we left and of them only one was older than Sadie.
the nurse was prepping us when the anesthesiologist came in to talk to us. Sadie was very clingy at that point for two reasons, one it was a new place but two, she was mad we took her away from the ride on car. typical Sadie. It worked in our favor though because the anesthesiologist saw she was clinging and decided to give her some help in calming down before they took her to the operating room. I was so relieved. Everything looked good so surgery was on. We had to wait about 40 minutes in the back while the three other surgery's went before us but Sadie was playing with lots of toys. She found a wagon to ride on that she made daddy take her back and forth and back and forth a million times. We finally got her into her gown, when she sat down for a few seconds. Then off to play again.
After a little bit they came to give her the Valium type stuff which made it seem as if she had a few too many. We couldn't let her walk around anymore so we read books and played in her crib/bed. Good thing she loves her backpack.
About 15 minutes later, they were in there to take her away. That was the hardest part for B and I. It was what stressed me out for a week. In the end again Sadie was a trooper. She loved that the cart was moving and was saying sitting there calmly holding on to the bed while they wheeled her off. She didn't even turn back to look for us!
About 10 minutes later, they told us to go wait in the waiting room. On the way, the dr found us. Said Sadie was already done. They drained very thick fluid from both ears so it was obvious she had a recent infection and it was going into the other ear. Doctor said the surgery went fine and Sadie was already in the recovery room. We have to put drops in her ears twice a day for five days and continue the antibiotic but everything looked good.
About 10 minutes later they came to find us in the waiting room. Sadie was awake. We went back into the prep area and Sadie was there being held by a nurse with her Elmo doll. Elmo went into surgery with her. :) She went right into Daddy's arms. She had a sippy cup of water and sat on daddy's lap watching tv. She was loopy but good.
the nurse came back in a little bit later to give Sadie a snack and to release her. She was free to go. B wanted to get her home on the couch so we bundled her up and headed home
She is such a trooper. She didn't even cry once when we got her back.

instead of an ear tube surgery i recommend to check out the eardoc as it is not invasive and it treats the problem immediately rather than treat the symptom. the eardoc opens the Eustachian tube and drains the trapped fluids naturally
What a big girl! Good job Sadie :) I'm sure you're both very relieved this went as well as it did - good job to you guys as well for being troopers watching her get wheeled away! Here's to no more ear infections!!!
I got a little teary eyed reading this. It is so hard to watch when it is your baby. I am so glad it all went well!!!
Any update on the kidney reflux? No change for Hannah, she is still on Bactrim nightly.
