I have to be honest that I haven't written partially because I am lazy. But in reality its because Elise doesn't like to sleep. Around 7 weeks, after all the excitement of moving, party etc and the family left, Elise was no longer being held 24/7 and lets just say she didn't like it. It was decided I would try a modified version of sleep training to try to get her used to sleeping while not being held. It has taken 1.5 weeks but alas, we might be getting somewhere. Friday night was miserable as Elise woke Sadie up a few times and we were pretty much up all night. makes for VERY unhappy parents in the morning. Luckily we all (except B who played on the computer) took a good nap on Saturday to make the afteroon more bearable. Sunday was better and started a breakthrough. After bathtime, I stuffed Elise full and put her down mostly drowsy in her crib all bundled warm and snug at 9pm. She slept til 3:00. Awesome. then I put her down in her crib again after she ate at 3:30am. She fussed for about 20 minutes, but no outright crying (I draw the line at having her cry it out, especially considering that wakes the other one.) and then silence. She did it! She put herself to sleep! Hallellujah. Last night was not as great but still went to bed at 10:30, ate at 3am, and back to sleep all in the crib. Lets hope this isn't a fluke and really is the beginning of a good thing.
As I type this Elise is sleeping in the swing. Another breakthru! During the days most of the time I was rocking her to sleep or sitting in the chair afraid to move so she could get sleep. unlike adults, the more infants sleep during the day, the better they sleep at night. Since she wasn't doing so hot during the days either, my modified sleep training, involved getting her good day naps as much as possible to keep her from overtired stage.
What this means? I may be coming out from under the fog! no more walking around like a zombie, eating whatever is within reach, drinking enough coffee to wake the dead.. and last but not least... I CAN FREAKING GET MY THANK YOU CARDS and BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENTS DONE!!!! do you believe I still don't have them done? how horrible. alas, I am working on it everyone and I truly apologize for the delay. We greatly appreciate all our friends and family.
