Its a no for the down under

Well some of you know and most of you didn't but B, Sadie and I almost moved to Australia for a year. Crazy I know but it would have been perfect had it worked out. My company had a position in Sydney for a 12 month maternity leave coverage. It would have been a limited expat. They had already found someone for the Sydney role by the time I heard of everything so they were interviewing me for a position in Melbourne. It would have been a huge promotion for me as the position is in charge of the HR dept for the Melbourne office. however it is a permanent position so there is no expat available. meaning they won't help me get there; it would be all on us to get there on our own and they would want permanency. We were willing to do maybe two years max but that was it. so it didn't work out. We had put some things on hold as we were waiting to hear if they could offer the expat and a temp assignment but it was a no go. We are sad but now I can focus on getting a home for my family. I guess the dingoes won't get a chance to eat my baby. this time.

Selfishly, I'm glad you're not going - but what a great opportunity! Everything happens for a reason, so I guess you're meant to stay here and hang out with us Americans for at least the near future. What a lot you've been thinking about lately!!
