Because I just love giving doctors my extra cash (cause everyone has that just lying around these days) we went back to the doctor again last night for a 'recheck' appt for Sadie. It is when they check to make sure her ear infections/strep/UTI, whatever ailment caused the most recent havoc in our lives, is gone. This time either Sadie has another ear infection that developed in one week or her last one wasn't killed off probably (darn buggers) and was growing again to be a lovely pus filled mess. I should have realized when Sadie started getting clingier.... you always look bakc with a eye opening "oh yea!". Regardless, she is now on her second, stronger round of antibiotics to kill the bacteria in her ear. (and all other good bacteria in her body. yogurt anyone)
As some of you know Sadie is part of a development study presented to me whilst in labor at Northwestern. Her most recent appt was this past Monday, where they proceeded to tell me Sadie is advanced in everything, even doing things a 2 year old would do in cognitive thinking, except in speech aka language skills she is 'right on track'. Now listen. If there is one thing my child can do it is talk. and talk often. and loud. Of course she didn't talk during the whole appt. She hasn't been saying much either, as during the last bought of horrendous fever ravaged ear infection drama, Sadie stopped talking. She has recently started talking again but not much. She isn't saying all the words she was saying pre-ear infection. And now I know why she has slowed down her words again, her ear infection is back. stupid ear. It all makes sense now. She couldn't hear. Her mouth hurt and her ear hurt. everything momma said was garbled. Kill the stupid bacteria in her ear. ear infection goes away. taking pus with it. Sadie starts talking again. She can hear out of both ears. She starts to talk again. ear infection comes back. Sadie gets clingy. stops talking. brilliant. am I. no wonder Sadie is above average....
