Yet another ear infection...

Well it started off Thursday when I picked Sadie up from daycare. She was sleeping on Ms. Karens shoulder which is sooo not like Sadie. At home i took her temp and it was 102.6. yikes. I called the pediatrician as she was at the doctor on Wednesday for her 12 month check up (yes she is 13 months, so it was a wee bit late). The doc confirmed it was way to early for her to have a reaction from the vaccines she got, so it must be something she was already working on. Well Friday morning rolls around and Ms. Sadie's temp is 103.5. B works from home, I go to work, call the dr and we are back at the dr's office by 11:45 on Friday. The doc checks her out, determines it is not a UTI (alwayss our first concern), says it viral. keep her comfortable, altnernating the motrin and tylenol to keep the fever down. she will get better in a few days. Well, we get home, Sadie's naps a lot. By night time she is crying spontaneously for no reason. Friday night was miserable. She was up like five times in the middle of the night screaming. We took turns, gave her bottles, rocked her, then put her back down. Saturday was more of the same. the alternating meds just didn't make her comfortable. She wouldn't eat or drink barely anything, so by Saturday night I was freaking out. She hadn't had a wet diaper in hours. So at 10pm I called the oncall dr and talked thorugh everything. She said if it gets worse, there is not wet diaper by morning, she becomes inconsolable, or gets lethargic (you can barely wake her) take her to ER otherwise to call first thing and make an appt. The only thing Sadie would drink was formula so every time she woke woke up we gave her two ounces. By the end of the night, she had about 8 ounces of formula and a wet diaper. We were so relieved but man that was a rough night. Sadie screamed every 30 minutes or so. Sometimes it was a single scream, others it was a minute of screaming and we were up and running to check on her. Exhausted at 10:31(the drs office starts to take calls at 10:30) we called and made an appt.

The doctor who saw us was the same that found her UTI months ago. I still really like him. He looked in Sadie's ear and said yep that is a very bad ear infection it is full of pus. Friday the dr checked her ears and they were fine, that is just how quick it can go bad. He did a strep test, checked her mouth, and the heat rash on her check (yes she was so feverish she got a heat rash on her right check!) He said ear infections can do that if bad enough. Immediately gave her some numbing drops in her ear, and gave us some antibiotics. Hopefully they kick in soon as she still hasn't really slept. We are looking forward to actually sleeping tonight. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

She did get some food down today but just doesn't want to eat or drink anything so we are still fighting her. poor thing has been so sick this weekend.
